Compassionate End-of-Life Care for Your Pet
Your pets are important members of your family, and you want only the best for them throughout their life, including as they near the end. Whether nature taking its course after a long and happy life, or a sudden result of illness or injury, saying goodbye to a beloved family member is a difficult time.
Whenever possible, the veterinarians and staff at New England Animal Hospital will assist you in developing an end-of-life treatment plan that includes who will be there, treatment options, pain management protocols, and caring for your pet’s final remains.
- Pain management and treatment options — Whether your pet is ill or simply getting older, you may decide to start him or her on a pain management protocol or begin to consider euthanasia. Our trained staff will talk with you regarding the options available and answer any questions you may have.
- Who will be with your pet — There is no right or wrong answer for this question. Some pet owners believe being present with their pet will help their pet feel more secure, while other pet owners prefer to say goodbye to their pet prior to the end, counting on our caring staff to be there for them.
- What to do with your pet’s remains — Deciding prior to your pet’s passing how you would like to handle his or her remains can cause less stress at the end. We can assist in private cremation.
Our staff has been there for you and your pet throughout his or her life, and now we will be there for you both at the end.
